Daniel Heath is the founder and lead consultant for Church 21. He served as the Worship and Arts Director of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, North Carolina for eight years before honoring God’s call to study as a Presidential Scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary. His passion is helping congregations thrive amid a rapidly changing contemporary landscape.
In addition to his ministry and church consulting roles, Mr. Heath is an accomplished musician and teacher. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Morehouse College, he earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill a Master of Music Education degree from Winthrop University, and a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. He holds a Certificate in Theology and the Arts from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Certificate in Worship Leadership from Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Katrina, have two sons.
Daniel is a what I like to call a “methodical visionary.” He has the creative imagination to dream big, but also has the organizational skills to bring a big vision to life, all the while facilitating others with compassion and contagious energy. As an artist, I have often collaborated with Daniel in worship arts ministry; no matter how large the project or task at hand, I can always count on him for inspiration, collaboration, and seamless execution. Regardless of your church’s specific needs, Daniel will be instrumental in helping you listen faithfully, think creatively, and pursue change gracefully.
Mr. Heath facilitated a musical workshop for the music department at my church and we learned through his presentation the importance of the conductor bringing out the best in the choir. We also learned fundamental singing skills, such has diction and breathing. He would be an asset to any congregation looking to enhance their worship experience.
Daniel is an excellent communicator on all levels. He is a very creative visionary. Daniel has the unique ability to take current resources and use them to enhance and grow church work.
Daniel is bright, a breath of fresh air for churches with a vision to lead their church into successful ministry. Daniel is charismatic, reverent, compassionate and discerning. A real joy!!
Daniel Heath has been just the right person to launch and sustain the growth of our contemporary worship music teams. His grounding in faith, commitment to serve, and desire to expand the overall mission of the church is exemplary.
Daniel Heath is a person who knows the church and the culture that surrounds it. This enables him to understand where the church and society have been, are today and are headed in the future. In addition, he has a unique education ranging from law to sacred music that gives him an outstanding skill set. But most importantly, Daniel has a passion and love for God, life and the church. You cannot help but get excited about the future of the church in Daniel’s presence.
With Daniel you get the rare combination of visionary and gifted realist. In any community he is invited into, he is always looking for what God might be up to and for new possibilities. He is attuned to both the movement of the Spirit, the dynamics of communities and groups, and the purpose and process of worship. Working with Daniel has always been a pleasure and an opportunity to grow.
Joy is the most appropriate word I can use to describe Daniel. He brings joy to his ministry, to his colleagues, and to every new challenge, but most importantly, he radiates joy for the work God is doing in the world. He is a joy to work with — professional, collaborative, innovative, organized, risk-taker, someone who both listens well and responds with empathy. Colleagues like Daniel are rare and you will only benefit from having him in your midst, even if only for a little while.
For over 20 years, I have witnessed Daniel’s skills as an observer, participant and leader in numerous faith and community settings throughout the Charlotte community. In some of these settings, Mr. Heath has assisted me in past and ongoing efforts to create worship and music experiences that welcome and engage diverse populations. He is passionate and intentional about creating worship experiences that are inclusive, meaningful and culturally manageable for congregations.
To join in ministry with Daniel will be a gift for you personally and a gift to the greater church. God is at work in God’s ministry through Daniel. Daniel has a deep love for God that is exemplified in his leadership styles and gifts of ministry. May God continue to bless Daniel and God’s church through Church21.
I have worked with Daniel Heath over the past 14 years. He is incredibly talented and remarkable in how he shares these talents to serve God. I would think that this new venture would be right up his alley! He is truly a faithful servant of the Lord.
